The Question

According to the bylaws, "If another position on the Executive Committee becomes vacant, the State Chairperson may nominate a replacement which will be confirmed upon approval by a majority of the State Committee."

We have a vacancy on the Executive Committee for the position of "Platform/Issues" Chair. This position was fomerly held by Bob Parks.

I would like to nominate Dan Gutenkauf for this position. Dan is well known to the Reform community here in Arizona, and also has national stature on the issue of Vote Fraud. I am confident that he will fulfill his duties with integrity and energy.

An affirmative e-mail message from a majority of the members of the State Committee (i.e. anyone getting this e-mail, plus Mimi who does not have e-mail) will suffice to elect Dan to this position.

Dr. Weyrich,

Dan would be an excellent participant. However, he did identify he was too busy elsewhere to even attend the State Convention.

Have you discussed this position with him, and gotten the confirmation he can, and will, participate fully?

IF SO, then my vote is for the affirmative.

Regards,

John Gilbert

Yes, Dan has agreed that he can and will participate, with the understanding that most of the business can be conducted via e-mail.

As you know, Dan is a musician, and summer is a "dry" time for him. He had a gig scheduled for the time of our state convention, and he expressed his desire to attend, but the need to work. I agreed with him.

Because Dan is a musician, his schedule is in some ways quirky, but in other ways very flexible -- e.g. he has a lot of free time during business hours.
